"The Marine Corps Mud Run is an extraordinary event for a couple of different reasons. One, it's an event that speaks volumes about the goodwill and patriotism of South Carolinians who in this case literally get down into the trenches themselves to have a great time and raise money for the families of fallen heroes. Two, it is a great event because in a whole variety of different ways it is about testing oneself, and working together as a team - lessons that we could all learn from in life. "In 2007, Eggplant Events observed our operation, took notes and came up with innovated ideas to improve the Mud Run. We had been growing about 30% each year; and in 2007, we set a new record of 600 teams participating. We were very pleased at that time. Eggplant Events is directly responsible for our 100% increase in participation from 600 four-man teams in 2007 to 1245 four-man teams in 2008. The figures do not lie; and obviously we kept Eggplant Events on for this year's Mud Run. Again, Eggplant Events took notes and went to work to improve the event; and I must say all who participated in the event were impressed. Jaime figured out that we had to cap our participants at 1,800 four-man teams or we would run out of daylight. Because of Jaime’s marketing skills, we reached our cap of 1,800 teams two weeks before the event and had over 100 teams wanting to register. Years ago we were just an event that people heard about, but thanks to Eggplant Events and Jaime, we are the second largest running event in South Carolina, second only to the Cooper River Bridge Run in Charleston and the largest Mud Run on the east coast if not the entire United States. You can bet we will continue to partner with Eggplant Events and Jaime as long as they want."
